Fort Stewart
Fort Stewart is official home to the 3rd
Infantry Division - Mechanized, formerly the 24th Infantry Division - Mechanized.
Nicknamed the "Marne Division" after the historic battle of the Marne River in
France during WWI, the reputation of the 3rd Infantry Division equals the 24th.
Camp Stewart occupies nearly half of
Liberty County's 519 square miles and is the largest employer in the County. Fort Stewart
has two elementary schools for military personnel residing on the Post. Older children
living on Fort Stewart attend Hinesville Middle School for grades six through eight and
Bradwell Institute for grades nine through twelve. Bus transporation is provided.
Nearly 76.5% of all military personnel live
off post with approximately 3,250 students attending Liberty County Schools. Military
personnel and elibible family members can shop at the Post Exchange. Winn Army Community
Hospital is a 143 bed acute care facility located on Fort Stewart. It offers a variety of
primary and specialty care clinics for active and retired military personnel and eligible
family members.
Fort Stewart offers Roman Catholic,
Lutheran, Jewish and Protestant religious services post-wide.
The Fort Stewart Youth Services Center
provides many sports and recreational opportunities with organized basketball, baseball,
softball, and track teams. Classes in ballet, tap, and jazz are offered.
